Less than 24 hours ago, the highly anticipated episode of The Red Table Talk aired and we looked on & waited for Jada Pinkett-Smith to confirm or deny the rumors that were circulating around her and August Alsina. Now if you’ve been living under a rock, here’s the back story.
A few weeks ago, August Alsina sat down with Angela Yee to discuss his new album and although the interview was an hour long, it was the controversial 5 minute clip that sent the internet into a complete frenzy. In those 5 minutes, August disclosed that he had been in an intimate relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith with her husband’s blessings. August stated that he could die happy because he was able love someone so completely. Jada, on the other, had a different account of their relationship. When she was asked about her relationship with August, she eloquently described it as an “entanglement” once again sending the internet into a frenzy. Most people were confused about what an entanglement was and others used it as a term of endearment or a polite way of saying, “we’re just having sex.” So my question for you is, have you ever found yourself in an entanglement? Do you think you may currently be in an entanglement but you’re not sure? Here’s a few signs to look for.
1.You are fully aware that the other person is involved with someone else Now whether they’ve told you straight up that they’re with someone else or eluded to the fact that they may be separated, the truth of the matter is, this person is still fully involved with someone else. And while that doesn’t diminish what the two of you have, if this person hasn’t made plans to remove the other person from their life, it is a sure sign that you may be in an entanglement.
2. You’ve expressed your love for them, but the feeling isn’t mutual If you’ve been dealing with said person for a certain amount of time, it’s only natural to develop feelings and even more natural to act on those feelings. If you’ve expressed your love for this person, but they don’t feel remotely close to what you’re feeling, it may be a sign that they’re either not feeling you the same or someone else is consuming their time and thoughts A.K.A an entanglement!
3. You’ve only bonded over your hurt When two people are hurting, it’s easy to gravitate towards each other to fill a void. It may seem like both parties have good intentions and are only seeking to heal each other, but if you find that you have nothing in common aside from your hurt, it’s a clear indication that you’re in an entanglement.
There’s no easy way to navigate through an entanglement without someone inevitably being hurt in the end, especially if you’re unaware that you’re in an entanglement to begin with. The best thing to do is look for the signs. If you find yourself in one or more of these scenarios, gather your pride and make your exit even if it breaks your heart. Hopefully there’s a Will Smith on the other side of it who’s willing to love you through anything.
