I cannot believe we’re already at the end of the first quarter of the year! One of my goals for the new year was to be in my bag and honestly, I’m well on my way #ChaChing! Another one of my goals was to implement as much self care and self love as possible. So what do you when you find yourself at a crossroad of living your best life and attempting to be financially responsible? Is it fair that we even have to choose?? I know first hand that I’m the type to splurge and deal with the reality of checking my account later, but I’ve found that the key to happiness is finding a perfect balance between balling & budgeting. Here’s 5 ways to still do your favorite things all while keeping your bag nice and secure.
Cook your favorite meal: let’s face it. If you’re anything like me, dinner dates can get really expensive. Trade in your night out and opt for cooking dinner. Put on some music, roll up your sleeves and cook yourself one of your favorite meals. Not only is cooking therapeutic, but you’ll enjoy the fruit of your labor. Literally and figuratively.
Have a DIY Spa Day. If the spa isn’t quite in your budget, bring the spa to you. Bath & Body works always has amazing sales! Stock up on some aromatherapy candles and lotions. Run yourself a warm bath. Citrus fruit baths are all the rage these days. If that’s not what you’re into, a bath bomb from Lush would suffice. Pair your bath with a glass of wine, followed by a full body rub down and you’ll be good to go.
DIY mani/pedi: what good is a spa day if you don’t follow up with a decent mani/pedi? Those who know me knows that I SWEAR by TJ MAXX. They have so many of our favorite hues of Opi nail polish at a discounted rate. Get comfy and concentrate on perfecting your nails. Get wild! Have fun!
Girls Night In: Girls night out is ALWAYS a movie. Between drinks, entry fees, dinner etc, the ticket runs up really fast. Instead of spending a bag on hitting the town, you can spend half that by hosting a Girls Night in. Grab your besties, whip up some appetizers, grab a few bottles of your fave wine or mix up some cocktails and enjoy your night. You’ll be in a safe space, so you have the ability to be the most authentic version of yourself. Be silly, have fun and bask in the moment.
Stack your money! Let’s be clear, being bougie on a budget is cool, but sometimes we want to treat ourselves to the finer things without being afraid to check your account. The best way to do this is to stack your paper! Put money to the side for these things so that when time permits, you can spoil yourself guilt free. As Queen Bey says, always stay gracious best revenge is your paper.
