Influencing While Black: Fashionable WOC you should be following

Updated: Jun 10

Let’s face it, European designers created the most fashionable brands, but black women made that shit HIT! Our melanin makes any color POP and that’s a fact time and time again proven as we sashay down runway after runway.

Let’s go back to the 80’s with Dapper Dan, the US first “influencer” he took logos like Louis Vuitton, MCM, and Gucci and put them on everyone in NYC. Logos during that time was simply that a logo. It was small, but big enough to let you know it was brand name, until Dapper Dan made it a thing. Double G’s and MCM was literally on everything thanks to Dan, car seats, luggage, jackets, hats, and shoes long before white America caught on. You knew who had money in the hood because of his designs.

Fast forward to the new millennial. Logos are everywhere because of US! It was our way of saying we had style and money. We knee to show up and show OUT and everywhere. Now that your fashion history lesson is over let me introduce you to a few of my favorite influencers!

They are not only fashionable but they are Kind, they are Smart, and they are Important. These ladies are pharmacists, physical therapists, fashion buyers, entrepreneurs, IT professionals, government officers, and lawyers!
