To Sheet or Not To Sheet?
Korean Skin Care has taken the world by storm and I am one who personally love a good thorough skin care routine. Now, I may not commit to a full on 10 step program but I can be trusted to do a good 7. Whether I am going all in or just doing something right quick (cleanse, vitamin c, sunscreen), hydration is always important and a MUST.
My absolute favorite way to get hydration in my skin is with a sheet mask. What is a sheet mask, you ask? A sheet mask is a face shaped fabric (or gel) sheet soaked in an essence (Serum + Toner = Essence) and individually wrapped. They are very affordable and can be found literally everywhere these days. Sheet masks are a sure fire way to get a good rush of hydration into the skin after cleansing and toning - and they are relaxing. Want an extra boost in the morning? Store them in the fridge and pop one on while you're getting ready for the day. 20 mins later, remove and rub in the essence that is remaining - and say hello to plump, hydrated skin.
Sheet masks come in a wide variety offering different benefits including everything from Aloe and Vitamin E to Placenta and Snail. I usually get a variety box from Amazon that includes 10 different formulas - check it out here. So the question remains - To Sheet to Not To Sheet? My short answer will always be "to sheet". Here's why:
Hydration - I know I said this like 15 times already but the importance of hydration cannot be ignored. Want to look younger? Hydrate. Want more even toned skin? Hydrate. Want to eliminate texture? Exfoliate THEN hydrate. Do you see where I am going here? Sheet masks are jam packed with hydration due to the essence that it is soaked in. Allowing that essence to soak into your skin for at least 20 minutes is like giving your skin a half gallon of water.
Ingredients with a purpose - Sheet masks are filled with ingredients to brighten, calm, boost collagen, etc. It is a way to get the some of the benefits of a great serum without breaking the bank. With ingredient options like CoQ10, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Stem Cell, your skin will never lack amazing ingredients when incorporating sheet masks.
Gentleness - The best thing about sheet masks is they are so gentle you can use them daily. I usually use them like once or twice a week but once I used a sheet mask a day for 7 days and my skin definitely showed it. My skin was more even tone, had no texture, and felt overall amazing. It seems there is no such thing as over-hydrating the skin with sheet masks. Want to do it twice a week or twice a day? You can!
I honestly cannot think of any reason to NOT sheet. The benefits and costs makes it a true no brainer. What about you? Are you a sheet mask junkie like me or do you steer clear of them? Let me know in the comments below - would love to hear from you!
In the meantime, this will be me...
